The University of Veterinary Sciences Brno has elected a candidate for the position of university rector

The Academic Senate of the University of Veterinary Sciences Brno has elected Prof. Ing. Eva Voslářová, Ph.D., as its candidate for the position of rector of the University of Veterinary Sciences Brno for the period 2026 to 2030.

In a secret ballot, 19 members of the 21-member Academic Senate voted for Prof. Voslářová.

Prof. Voslářová is a renowned professor in the field of animal protection, animal welfare, animal well-being, and ethology. She currently serves as Vice-Rector for Education at the University of Veterinary Sciences Brno. She has been working at the university for 24 years, is the guarantor of the Animal Protection and Welfare study program, and has published 130 articles in internationally recognized scientific journals, 50 of which were written in collaboration with foreign authors. For several years, she was a member of the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) expert team that prepared scientific opinions for new European legislation in the field of animal protection and welfare. For 20 years, she has been organizing the international conference Animal Protection and Welfare, which is the largest professional meeting of experts on animal protection and welfare in the Czech Republic.

The proposal to appoint Prof. Voslářová as Rector of the University of Veterinary Sciences Brno will be submitted by the university's academic senate to the President of the Czech Republic.
